Social Media for All

One issue I see in many company social media audits is using the wrong platforms for your targeted clients. Unfortunately, I have found no recent research articles on what platforms are used the most by each age range but for this article we can look at the averages I have seen so far in my career. We will use this as a start to conduct our own research.
When you are first starting your business, you need to ask yourself who your target audience is. Ours here at Goose Global Media would be small business owners age ranges of 18-70. Why all the way up to 70, you may ask? People are retiring later in life, especially small business owners. We take these numbers and use them to determine the best ways to promote your businesses. I have noticed in recent KPIs for clients that the common ages are as follows:
TikTok - Ages 16-35
Instagram - Ages 18-50
Facebook - Ages 25-75
LinkedIn - Ages 25-50
Pinterest - Ages 30-65
Youtube - Ages 18-50

I do not have any valid research behind these data sets, but they have been a trend in my clients KPIs. I use this information to create content targeted for client's social media target audiences. Follow along in my research journey to determine whether these age ranges are accurate for all. Together we can determine your businesses target audience social media usage. Keep in mind, extra social media is never going to hurt you. This will just help you focus your content.
